Louis Armstrong, Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac among Grammy Hall of Fame Inductees

On Wednesday, the Recording Academy stated that, the American rock band formed in 1965 - Grateful Dead and British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac (formed in July 1967), jazz legends Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis, and singers Blondie and Roberta Flack (famous for her classic #1 singles "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Killing Me Softly) will be enshrined in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The 1970 album of Grateful Dead - 'American Beauty,' that was named by Rolling Stone magazine in 2012 as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time, will be inducted after the group finished its 50-year-run this year with a final tour.

The 1975 self-titled record of Fleetwood Mac (the band that has sold more than 100 million records worldwide), which includes the hits "Say You Love Me" and "Rhiannon" will also be placed in the music vault, as well as Bob Dylan and The Band's 1975 album - "The Basement Tapes."

The Recording Academy (hosts of the annual Grammy Awards) committee, selected a total of 26 albums and songs across all genres that are at least 25 years old to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The selected music of the Recording Academy committee is considered to have either "qualitative or historical significance."

The president and chief executive officer of the Recording Academy - Neil Portnow, said in a statement, "These works have influenced and inspired both music creators and fans over the years and we are proud to induct them into our catalog of distinguished recordings."

And among the jazz and blues inductees this year are Miles Smiles (Album by jazz great Miles Davis Quintet), the 1969 record of Roberta Flack, and the collaborative 1956 album "Ella and Louis" of Ella Fitzgerald and the most influential figure in jazz music - Louis Armstrong.

Also, Blondie's disco-influenced song "Heart of Glass," is included in the Grammy Hall of Fame - along with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' "I Love Rock 'N Roll" and the 1962 pop song of Little Eva -  "The Loco-Motion."
