Box Office: 'Hunger Games' Stays on the No. 1 Spot; While 'Good Dinosaur' and 'Creed' Open Strong

Pixar's 3D computer-animated adventure comedy-drama film - The Good Dinosaur and Warner Bros. American sports drama film - Creed (starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone), are off to a strong start at the box office on Wednesday. While director Francis Lawrence's American epic science fiction war film - Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, got no trouble of staying in the No. 1 spot for the five-day holiday stretch.

Early returns of the film Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 show, that it grossed about $13 million-plus on Wednesday, and the film hit a healthy five day gross of $73 million to $75 million.

The Good Dinosaur with cast Raymond Ochoa as Arlo and Frances McDormand as Momma, is on course, earning $9 million-plus, and got a $60 million-plus five-day debut on Wednesday.

The film Good Dinosaur cost between $175 million - $200 million to produce and the movie marks the first time Pixar has ever unleashed two films in the same year. Where in June, Inside Out (cast - Amy Poehler as Joy and Phyllis Smith as Sadness) opened to a rousing $90.4 million after the film earned $3.7 million in Thursday-night previews.

It has been a habit for Disney to launch animated fare over the Thanksgiving holiday. In 2013, Disney Animation Studios' 3D computer-animated musical fantasy film - Frozen, debuted with $93.6 million, and it is the biggest five-day Thanksgiving opening of all time.

The 28 year old American actor Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone's Creed is over-performing, shout outs to stellar reviews for a projected $7.5 million on Wednesday and as high as $40 million in the five-day debut.

However, the American science fiction horror film - Victor Frankenstein, that stars the Scottish actor James McAvoy as Dr. Frankenstein was reportedly supposed to kick start on October 2014 but was moved to January 2015, finally it was released this Thanksgiving. It did roughly $6 million for the projected five-day debut.
