Fallout 4 Player Sues Game for Video Game Addiction

A man recently lost his wife, with the spouse leaving with luggages and him alone in the living room, because of a video game. The unnamed man blames Fallout 4 for ruining his life. 

Fallout 4 is a post apocalyptic role playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios. This major installment of the Fallout Series was released worldwide on November 10, 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and XBox One. The setting is in Boston in 2287. The player emerges from an underground bunker and is required to pass through a series of tests. Unfortunately for this player, he never emerged from his couch. 

A man from Russia started playing the game and didn't stop until three weeks later when he realized his life is ruined and lost his job. 

The 28 year old game enthusiast from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia wants to be compensated for his loss. His asking price from Bethesda Game Studios? He wants to claim $7,000. The lawsuit filed was laid against Softklab, a localization firm.

The lawyers that represented him released a statement that he claimed he was not aware that the game was addictive. 

The man had this to say of popular online role playing game :

If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it," he said. "I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays.

The man alleged that his addiction to the game caused him to skip work and eventually his tardiness got him fired from his job. His wife eventually left him after a time and that he admitted suffering multiple health issues including lack of sleep.

This is the first kind of lawsuit in Russia and the man's representatives stated they want to see where this case will lead them. 

Bethesda has not yet released a comment on the legal claims, as sources indicated.
