The Bagel Store Rainbow Bagels Gone Forever? NYC Shop Closes Indefinitely

For the bagel enthusiastic, The Rainbow Bagel might be an extinct species.

Although the Rainbow Bagel of The Bagel Store, was recently brought into the market and gained popularity through the Instagram feeds and due to their awe - inspiring colors, yet they will now be not found now.

The Brooklyn-based bagel production company has made an abrupt decision to close its bagel shop indefinitely, which has caused quite an uproar.

Despite having an insane amount of publicity and a boost in sales due to the 2013's Cronut Craze, the owners of the store closed down their store this week, with all but a notice at the doorstep for the customers, which informed that there was a need for renovation and it will be opened within a few days.

However, what irked the customers was the announcement on the Facebook page of The Bagel Store that they are uncertain when they will be back in business and referred their followers to a second location in the same borough, according to People Magazine.

"We got slammed like you cannot believe," Francine LaBarbara, The Bagel Store's marketing coordinator tells Gothamist, adding the bakery has sold 800 of the coveted bagels every day for weeks. "I'm going to say it's been crazy since Christmas."

According to LaBarbara, the decision to close down the shop came as a desire to improve the Brooklyn staple.

"We needed to revisit everything that's happening, to make the shop better ...The Graham location has been slammed. We really needed to take a second to regroup, and we can't wait to open the Bedford location to alleviate things," says LaBarbara. "Everything had to be redone, to make sure we were okay. It's really just basic maintenance."

Although there has been no news as to when the Bedford location will open, yet it seems that hopeful bagel lovers will have to wait for news on their opening or migrate to the Graham location for the heavenly food.
