Pennsylvanian couple Doug and Patty Wargo, who sued Burger King after they were charged double of the meal that they ordered in November 2015 amounting to $17.35, recently won the legal battle.
The amount of $17.35 for a meal may be ridiculously insignificant, but Doug and Patty Wargo emphasized that they will not allow bad customer service. In a matter of principle, they do not want to put a premium to a bad customer service of Burger King. After that unfortunate experience, the couple filed a small claims suit in a small claims court for $17. 35, where the refund came into their bank account days after they filed the case.
So, what's the catch in this story when they have been refunded, anyway? What's the big fuss when Burger King already paid the small amount of $17.35?
It was already too late for Burger King to iron things out since the couple has decided to file a suit in court before the reimbursement came. The Wargos paid the court fees with a total of $113.90 at the Pennsylvania's Magisterial District Court in Cumberland County.
According to ABC27, it called two Burger King managers: the store's general manager and a district manager who was in court with the store's owner when the judgment came down - and two corporate offices for comment. One man called back from a restricted number where he refused to identify himself and answered, "No comment," and then hung up.
The couple was so frustrated how Burger King dealt with them and they promised that they are not going back to Burger King again.
In the final analysis, Burger King should have just settled the $17.35 right away instead of telling the couple that their hands were tied and the customer had to take food instead of cash.
The couple still awaits Burger King's payment of $113.90 as ordered by the judge.
