Hidden Dangers of Relying Too Much on Weight Loss Supplements

Sticking to a strict diet can be hard. Just trying to remember the types of food you have to eat at certain times of the day is difficult enough. It is probably for this reason that several companies have made diet and food supplements to help you lose weight.

However, studies have shown that it can negative effects for you in the long run, especially if you don't follow the prescribed dosage. A lot of people have noticed that once they stop taking the supplement, it doesn't take them a long time to go back to their original weight.

There are other factors to consider, too. According to an article from Prevention.com, there are a number of manufacturers that don't reveal what is contained in their pills. For instance, Slimming Beauty Bitter Orange Slimming capsules failed to put in their labels that they used large amounts of sibutramine - a powerful prescription-strength stimulant which could potentially trigger a heart attack if you happen to take in a large dose. The FDA even issued a warning against this product because several consumers reported experiencing elevated blood pressure, headaches, vomiting, and insomnia.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. There have been a number of these weight loss supplements that include ingredients that are only meant for prescription drugs. Several brands that have been verified to practice this include Meridia, Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra.

Some might argue that most of these drugs were not properly certified. However, it turns out that even supplements that have been approved by the medical community have to be taken in moderation. Abuse of such supplements could not only affect your weight but your health, as well.

The bottom line is you should not compromise your health with a quick fix. It is always better to know firsthand what is contained in these products and always consult your doctor before using them.
