Humboldt Distillery Launches Weed Infused Vodka in California & Colorado

Humboldt County in Northern California has been known for its marijuana production, and thus it is not shocking that Humboldt Distillery has recently launched a vodka which is infused with cannabis sativa.

Although it is possible to infuse alcohol with marijuana and get high, yet the new vodka, also known as Humboldt's Finest is not the finest drink, which can be found.

However, to stick to the Californian law, Humboldt Distillery uses legally grown hemp, which must have a "THC content of less than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis," according to a press release from the company.

Although the content of THC is not high enough to get a person high, yet the 40% alcohol in the "Finest" drink will definitely provide an opportunity to get drunk.

For people who are thinking about the utility of such a drink, Humboldt Distillery owner and head distiller Abe Stevens explains that "It does, however, retain an herbal and aromatic quality reminiscent of fresh cannabis, and we've found it works very well in place of gin, giving classic cocktails a fresh new spin."

Stevens credits the locals to coming up with the inspiration for the weed vodka, according to Yahoo News.

"As the vodka has grown in popularity I've found more and more consumers asking us to add some of the 'local flavor' to our alcohol", Stevens said in a press release. "That obviously wouldn't be legal for us to do, but I couldn't ignore the consumer demand. My solution was to come up with a compromise that captures a bit of that character without breaking any laws."

The vodka will be available in bottles of 750 ml for $29.99 and will be sold in California and Colorado only. It will be available for a limited time only as this is a limited release edition.
