Soldiers Smuggle Immigrants – Caught Entering Texas, Could Face Prison

Soldiers Smuggle Immigrants: Three soldiers have been arrested yesterday, October 9th on the charges of entering immigrants to the state of Texas while wearing their uniform.

Crossing the border illegally is one thing. Everyone knows that in order to enter USA, just like any other country, there is a permission needed. In the case of USA, it's a citizenship or a visa of some sort; and first things first; authorities need to see that the person is legally staying the country. That's the way in which things work mostly.

But, another thing that is completely different is to cross the border illegally and with the help of the authorities. Such is the case of Eric Rodriguez, Brandon Robbins an Christopher Wix, who are accused of helping immigrants enter the State of Texas.

According to Reuters, Eric Rodriguez, who is 20 years old, had been arrested on Sept. 11th in the south of Texas, in a town called Sarita. He was not only dressed in his soldier uniform, but also was smuggling two immigrants by hiding them behind his jacket and a bed sheet included in the back of his pick-up truck.

The first one, though, to be stopped was Brandon Robbins back in April, who also hid two immigrants and the second one was Christopher Wix, who is only one year older than Eric Rodriguez and Brandon Robbins, and was smuggling two immigrants too by transporting them in June into Texas.

Then, apparently, there is a fourth soldier named by KSAT, called Arnoldo Garcia and a lot older  than the other three, he is 45 years old and it seems like he could have aided the soldiers with the smuggling of immigrants.

An HSI agent, Janice Ayala said, "HSI is dedicated to working closely with its law enforcement partners in all arenas in pursuit of identifying, arresting and prosecuting individuals involved in human smuggling, regardless of their position."

It looks like if they soldiers do get convicted; they would have a possible fine of $250,000 and up to ten years in federal prison.
