There are several books that talk about the sirtfood diet, so you won't necessarily feel like a complete newbie. Here are some facts that you need to know about the diet.


What is the sirtfood diet?

While many people are still not familiar with the sirtfood diet, this diet was discovered in 2016 and was officially launched as a weight loss type of diet. The followers of this diet mainly focus on eating Sirt foods. 

The founders of this diet aim to provide people who want to lose weight certain foods that work through sirtuins. Sirtuins are compounds that are considered to be stable proteins. It protects the cells inside our bodies from getting damaged because of stress. Sirtuins also help regulate inflammation and a person's aging process. 

Moreover, sirtuins also can boost one's metabolism and burn fat. In just a week into the diet, a person will lose about seven pounds off their weight. Aside from losing and unhealthy fats, it also helps in gaining muscle. 

However, aside from its positive effects on weight loss, experts still believe there is a flaw in the diet that could cause health problems, such as adverse changes in the glycogen storage in the body from the liver and the skeletal muscle.


What are sirtfoods?

Among the common sirtfoods are dark chocolate, turmeric, kale, green tea, apples, parsley, capers, red wine, and blueberries. There are two stages in doing the sirtfood diet. First, one should undergo a week of calorie restriction. For three days, you should only take 1000 overall calories. You can consume sirtfood green juices during this phase, such as kale juice, green tea and lemon juice, celery juice, and more.

As for your usually heavy meals, you can eat turkey with greens, whether it's kale, parsley, or capers. Your calorie intake will be increased from four to seven days in the diet, and your food intake should consist of two sirtfood green juices and two sirtfood-based meals per day.

The initial stage of the diet is the trickiest because your meal plans are very strict, and you should stick to it for the whole week. During the second stage of the diet, you need to maintain the meal plan that you had for the first phase and continue it for the next 14 days.

The founders of the diet highly believe that the sirtfood diet is sustainable and is the most effective way to lose weight in 3 weeks. However, they also emphasized that the diet is not only about losing weight, but it also encourages everyone to eat what nature has to offer. Few weeks into the dietary routine, you will be able to start eating three sirtfood meals a day with a glass of green juice.


In a nutshell, whatever diet you wish to follow for weight loss, it is still essential to maintain a well-balanced meal plan. Make sure to get the right nutrients and vitamins in whatever alternative you are going to include in your new diet.
