Overall Mood Improvement

In an interview with The Healthy, Beth Witherspoon, a registered dietitian, notes that the caffeine present in the coffee is associated with positive effects in the brain like improving mental alertness, attention, concentration, and mood. They also reference a study by Harvard's School of Public Health found that those who drink two to three cups of coffee cut their risk of suicide at about 45 percent.

Lose Weight

Dr. Steven Reisman, a cardiologist, shares with The List that coffee may aid an individual in losing weight by improving aerobic exercise's physical performance. He adds that coffee helps the body absorb and burn fatty acids in the bloodstream. However, this should be accompanied by a healthy lifestyle, not by coffee alone, according to Diane Vizthum, a registered dietitian.

Heartburn

According to Eat This Not That, drinking coffee raises acidity in the stomach and is problematic if you drink it without food in there. They add that the overly acidic gastric juices can irritate the lining of the gut and cause heartburn. However, Bonnie Taub-Dix, Ma, RD, shares with WebMD. This does not mean you have to say goodbye to coffee. Taub-Dix notes that controlling the consumption will help and prevent heartburn.

Decreased risk of cancer and other diseases

The Healthy notes Witherspoon's words saying moderate coffee consumption (about three to five cups) is associated with decreased mortality from all causes, reduced risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes, Parkinson's Diseases, Dementia, certain cancers, and liver cirrhosis. The Healthy also adds that experts have referred to coffee as a miracle drug due to its ability to prevent diseases.

Increase Cholesterol Levels

The List emphasizes that drinking filtered coffee every day will not increase LDL cholesterol. However, they point out that if you usually prefer French Press or espresso, that is not the case; in their interview with Rob van Dam, an epidemiologist from Harvard University, saying that unfiltered coffee has cafestol, a substance that increases the cholesterol level in the body.

Store More Fat

Eat This Not That references a study published in 2005 suggesting that caffeine increases the level of cortisol, a stress hormone in which it can trigger excess fat storage, which can develop into obesity when it is at high levels.

Blood Pressure Increased

According to The Healthy, coffee can heighten blood pressure, but it will not negatively affect the long run because it is temporarily. Still, listening to your body should be a priority.

Drinking coffee every day may have good and bad effects on the body. That is why listening to it and not drinking in excess is essential. Always remember that excess consumption of every food will still affect the body, whether it may be harmful or useful.
