Although you might say that breakfast cereals are bland, it is nothing to say that it affects your blood pressure. According to Eat This Not That, most of the cerelas in the market are sugar bombs, meaning they are loaded with added sugars. They add that the consequence of eating this is blood sugar levels will rise and crash not too long after. In addition, too much sugar in the body may lead to chronic diseases, which is bad news for everybody.

Weight Gain

If you are on a diet, you might think that cereal won't hurt your hard work. However, the cereal should be one of your greatest enemies when you are undergoing a diet. According to Cleveland Clinic, noting that most of the cereals have added sugar, a bowl of fruit-flavored corn puffs for kids contains seven teaspoons of sugar, which according to them, is like eating dessert for breakfast. In addition, when you are on a diet, sugar is bad news because it will just add to the love handles and tummy weight.

You could overeat

Eat This Not That shares that breakfast cereals are processed foods, and they have a higher glycemic index, which is linked to increased hunger and overeating. They add that the favorite meal (most of them) lacks fiber, which makes you feel full and satisfied. Without enough fiber, you will see yourself in the kitchen, looking for something to eat frequently.

The Truth About the Added Vitamins

You might say that your cereal has vitamin A, B, or even C and Zinc, making it healthy. However, Savory Lotus notes that these vitamins are synthetic which are not readily absorbed by the body. They add that the body treats many synthetic vitamins as toxins, which it discards and releases. So there are no absorbed vitamins.

Life Span

Eat This Not That shares that breakfast cereals are considered whole grains, which can benefit the body. They mention a study as a reference that states that a diet that is bountiful in whole grains lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. It can extend your life span if you do not have these diseases with you in the long run.

Breakfast cereals may spark bad things in your body but remember that moderation in consuming this food is essential. The adverse effect might only happen if you eat them excessively. Also, make it a habit to check the labels before adding foods to your cart.
