Is This the Ultimate Plant-Based Beef? Beyond Meat Raises the Bar (Again!)

Beyond Meat is leaning into whole foods with a new version of plant-based beef that debuts this spring. Beyond IV, the fourth iteration of the iconic plant-based meat, is healthier and beefier-tasting thanks to heart-healthy avocado oil, and an ingredient list that includes rice, lentils, and fava beans.  

New Beyond IV Is Healthier and Tastier 

Beyond Burger 3.0 was loaded with saturated fat. The new Beyond IV has 60% less saturated fat, 20% less sodium, plus more protein than 80/20 beef. They've dropped their use of canola oil and are opting for avocado oil, known for its subtle, nuanced flavor. Avocado oil is proven to reduce cholesterol, improve heart health, and even enhance the absorption of other nutrients.

Here's how the new Beyond Burger stacks up against its old counterpart:

  • Calories: 230 vs. 230
  • Total fat: 14 grams vs. 14 grams
  • Saturated fat: 2 grams vs. 5 grams
  • Sodium: 390 mg vs. ~ 312mg
