Farmingdale State College Professor Murdered Allegedly By Son – Decapitated And Stabbed, Neighbors Consider It Halloween Prank

Farmingdale Murder - A former professor and dean in SUNY (The State University of New York) was brutally murdered yesterday. The full suspicions fall on her son.

At 8 pm, Patricia Ward's body was carried and left on the street. The neighbors saw the body, but due to the state of it, considered that it was part of a prank.

"Basically, I saw the dead body in the street with no head with a sheet over it and a dog running around," one witnessed shared.

Another one dwelled on the fact that the body had no head. The head was then lying around and the first thought that crossed the witness's mind was, 'this is a Halloween prank.' Apparently, no one considered it an actual murder at first sight.

But 25 minutes following this, the police in the area received a phone call. A Long Island Rail Road train that traveled from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma struck a man. Said man was dead, CBS reported.

Once the police got to the scene, they realized that the struck man was Derek Ward, Patricia Ward's son. The Farmingdale police connected the dots and there is an apparent story.

The murder proceeded by Derek stabbing Patricia, then he dragged her to the hallway. After that, he continued dragging her to the street and there, he decapitated her, ABC 7 noted.

The police is still investigating to produce sure facts. Still, one detail shared was that Derek suffered from a psychiatric condition. Up to the moment, it's unknown which condition specifically, but his paternal grandfather passed away last year and this triggered strong emotions.

Apart from that, he had been arrested for drug and gun possession previously.

The Farmingdale murder is a tragic occasion and in SUNY, people remember the former professor and dean in a loving way, describing her as a gentle person.
