A kindergarten student at Johnstown Elementary School in Pennsylvania handed out alcohol-laced Jello shots to three classmates, prompting a swift emergency response and an ongoing investigation, according to school officials.
The incident occurred Wednesday at Johnstown Elementary, part of the Greater Johnstown School District, according to a press release. A child distributed small Jello cups containing alcohol to three other students during the school day. The event was described by school officials as isolated and unexpected.
As soon as staff learned of the incident, the affected students were taken to the school nurse for evaluation. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called as a precaution, and the children were transported to a local hospital for further assessment.
Parents were notified and met their children at the hospital. The district is now working with local authorities to determine how the child obtained the alcohol and brought it to school.
The Jello cups have been secured as evidence, and the matter is under investigation. The district emphasized its cooperation with law enforcement and its focus on student safety.
