Country Eggs LLC is recalling its large brown cage-free eggs following a salmonella outbreak that has made dozens of people across the US sick, the FDA reports.
The company announced the recall on Wednesday, August 27, after at least 95 cases of illness were confirmed in 13 states.
California reported the highest number of infections. Fortunately, the outbreak has not resulted in any deaths.
The recall covers "Sunshine Yolks" and "Omega-3 Golden Yolks" eggs distributed in California and Nevada.
According to FoxBusiness, the affected cartons carry the code CA 7695 with sell-by dates ranging from July 1, 2025, through September 18, 2025.
The eggs were sold under the brands Nagatoshi Produce, Mizuho, and Nijiya Markets. Some eggs were also distributed in bulk to food service providers.
In a statement, the FDA said: "The potential for contamination was noted after being brought to our attention by the FDA and other authorities that our product may contain the presence of salmonella. Production of the product has been suspended while FDA and the company continue their investigation as to the source of the problem."

CDC Warns Public as Egg Salmonella Outbreak Spreads Across 13 States
Officials are urging consumers who purchased the recalled eggs to return them to the store for a refund or to safely dispose of them.
Anyone who develops symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, abdominal cramps, or fever after eating the product should seek medical care.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
Most individuals begin to show symptoms within 12 to 72 hours of eating contaminated food, USA Today reported. While many recover without treatment, some cases may require hospitalization.
Expectant mothers face an increased risk of complications if they contract the infection.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with state and local health officials, are continuing to investigate the outbreak.
The illnesses connected to the eggs have been reported in states including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
This is not the first time egg recalls have drawn national attention. The FDA has issued multiple food safety alerts this year tied to salmonella contamination in other products such as pumpkin seeds and meat.
Consumers who believe they may have purchased the affected Sunshine Yolks or Omega-3 Golden Yolks are strongly advised not to eat them and to check packaging for the recall details provided by the FDA.
