Foods That Contain MSG Might Surprise You, Includes Doritos and Pringles

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) has always been a component that is bad for one's health and it is mostly present in Chinese-American food. However, it's also now found on other common foods you eat and most Americans do not realize that.

MSG is used to enhance the flavor of the food for more than a century now. Back in 1908, the MSG was first called as an "umami" as it was described as a meaty flavor that has not been identified yet back then.

MSG has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) but a lot of people continue to suffer from MSG sensitivity. Among its symptoms include headache, chest pain, facial numbness, facial swelling, flushing and sweating.

To avoid getting side effects from eating foods with MSG, a list of common foods have been released that contain the said substance.

First is the all-time favorite Doritos as it has been identified as the bold and rich flavor of the junk food is due to its MSG content.

Next is KFC's famous fried chicken as according to reports, there are 11 herbs and spices in the finger lickin' goodness of KFC's most famous product. Aside from that, MSG is also present in KFC's gravy, chicken pot pies, potato wedges, and green beans.

The Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich has also been found out to have the same substance. According to the website of the restaurant, they serve their sandwich with salt, sugar, spices, MSG and paprika.

Flavored Pringles have also been named as one of the products that have MSG but is only present in BBQ, Sour Cream & Onion, and Pizza. Salt and Vinegar is exempted in the said findings.

Last but not the least, we have listed Campbell's chicken noodle soup even if it says 25% less Salt. However, it has also been found out that mostly condensed soups such as Cream of Mushroom and Vegetable Beef has MSG as one of its ingredients.
