Mavs Beats Nets In Overtime 96-88; Dirk Nowitzki Now Number Seven In NBA Career Points

It was a heart stopping game and the Mavs was able to stack record their fifth win in a row this season. The game went on to overtime with the Mavs outscoring the Nets 14-6 on the overtime alone. The game ended 96-88.

Monta Ellis heads the Mavs in points with 19, while Tyson Chandler recorded a double-double figure with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Despite a downside performance for Rajon Rondo who shot 1-13 on the field, he redeemed himself by contributing 14 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds.

On the Nets side, Brook Lopez scored 18 points in the first quarter, the most any Nets players had made for the this season. He went on to finish the game with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Jarrett Jack added 20 points and 10 assists. The Nets despite the absence of Deron Williams who is suffering from injury and Kevin Garnett who decided to rest, managed to give Mavs a difficult game. With second remaining in the fourth quarter Joe Johnson would have won the game for the Nets if he had made the final shot of the quarter. The loss marks the second straight for the Nets after three-game winning streak.

On the overtime, Ellis scored Mavs first four points while Dirk Nowizki and Chandler Parsons have one three-pointer apiece.

The highlight of the game however was Dirk Nowitzki, who had made a total of 27,412 career points edging out Moses Malone in the number seven spot for most career points in the NBA. When asked about the feat he said "I'm proud of it but more proud that we got the game."

The Mavericks will go back to its home ground against Detroit on Wednesday while the Brooklyn Nets will be hosting the Boston Celtics on the same day as well.
