While at the backstage, during the Grammys, he even alleged that "the alternative rock icon" must show respect on artistry and give the award to Beyonce instead, a fellow nominee for the prize. When Kanye West was asked about his demeanor, he said "I deserved it, man. I was completely hypocritical." Kanye said he's recently eating dinner with the popular singer Taylor Swift, another artist Kanye has denounced for winning a prize from previous Grammys, the café put on Morning Phase.

The rapper/singer even told Power 105.1 FM that "Maybe they did it on purpose, so I could finally hear it. But I was like, man, this is kind of good. I ain't gonna lie." He said that he will listen to Morning Phase more thoroughly and conceded, "Maybe it was, potentially, an Album of the Year."
