There's been a lot of controversy over the past months over the advice given by the syndicated talk show host, as it has been deemed inappropriate and even dangerous a great number of times, even forcing him to appear at the US Senate in 2014; now, it's Dr. Oz's Columbia spot on the spotline.
In the past, long before the demand for Dr. Oz's Columbia resignation, Food World News has reported several of the issues surrounding Mehmet Oz, including how "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver greatly criticized him and the fact that there was a study proving that most of what he said was inaccurate.
Now, Fox News reports that Dr. Oz's Columbia position might be in danger: a series of physicians led by California's Standard University Dr. Henry Miller sent a letter to the dean of the Ivy League's school Medicine faculty asking that the celebrity doctor be removed from the university's staff.
According to USA Today, the team of doctors stated that the reasons for their request to demand Dr. Oz's Columbia dismissal were the questionable way in which the doctor hands out supposedly medical advice, calling him severely unethical in his procedures and ultimately "a fake and a charlatan," asking he be removed from the position he's currently holding.
Currently, Dr. Oz's Columbia position is vice chairman of the university's department of surgery - and it's been reported that, before he became famous by appearing on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and ultimately getting his own television spot, he was seen as a respected member of the medical community.
"We are surprised and dismayed that Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons would permit Dr. Mehmet Oz to occupy a faculty appointment, let alone a senior administrative position in the Department of Surgery," reads the letter, according to The Washington Post.
Neither the celebrity physicians nor any of his reps were available for comment in regards of the Dr. Oz Columbia dismissal letter.
