George Lucas Affordable Housing Plan: ‘Star Wars’ Billionaire To Build Housing Project At Skywalker Ranch

The man behind major franchises such as "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" is also one of the richest people in the planet, with a net worth well worth into the billions of dollars - and the new George Lucas affordable housing plan sees the iconic science fiction director giving back to the community that made him a rich man.

In the past, Food World News has reported on developments of the most recent project involving Lucas, "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens," though years ago he sold the franchise that turned Carrie Fisher, Mark Hammil and Harrison Ford into superstars back in the 70s - but the George Lucas affordable housing plan is a new step in a completely different direction.

Currently, the "American Graffiti" director is building a museum in Chicago, which he'll be dedicating to film across the ages in a multimedia experience, a project that has cost him years worth of lobbying, well before the George Lucas affordable housing plan.

Now, according to CNET, George Lucas' affordable housing plan is located at his Grady Ranch property in the Californian Marin County, not too far away from his iconic Skywalker Ranch, where the famous producer works and a recent plot point in the popular CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory."

Gizmodo reports that the George Lucas affordable housing plan proposes a 225-unit community within the 4,700 acres of his property, making it one of the biggest projects of its kind in the entire region.

This comes a few years after his original plans for the ranch were met with rage by neighbors, as he'd planned to build a Lucasfilm production studio there, but was kept from it by protests.

It's one of the wealthiest areas of California.

"We've got enough millionaires here," said Lucas in a statement read by his lawyer, Gary Giacomini, according to The Wrap. "What we need is some houses for regular working people."

Having owned land in the area for more than 30 years, George Lucas' affordable housing plan is his own attempt at giving something back to the community.
