Cheech & Chong’s Tommy Chong: ‘I Got Diagnosed With Rectal Cancer’

Tommy Chong is known for being the star of "Cheech & Chong." He's recently revealed that he's currently seeking treatment for rectal cancer.

The 77-year-old comedian was previously diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012. Just last Tuesday, he told Us Weekly: "I've had some medical issues lately. I got diagnosed with rectal cancer."

Tommy Chong also announced the news on his Twitter account on Wednesday. In a series of tweets, he wrote, "I have good news and bad news. First the bad news, the cancer came back and it's a real pain in the butt."

He then added, "The good news is I now have to use more marijuana to treat the cancer." In a follow up tweet, he also said, "I will be documenting my cancer fight on the Chong and Chong podcast to let my fans know how the fight is going."

In 2012, the former "That '70s Show" star was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Also known as a marijuana aficionado and an advocate for legalization of the drug, Chong used the substance to aid in relief for prostate cancer.

"I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis," Tommy said to Don Lemon of CNN in 2012. "So [legalizing marijuana] means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested... I'm taking it as a medicine," he added.

He revealed that he's turned to use the drug again for his new diagnosis. "I'm using cannabis like crazy now, more so than ever before," he said to Us Weekly.

The "Up In Smoke" actor added, "I'm in treatment now. I've been - just the case either way, either I get healed or I don't. But either way, I'm going to make sure I get a little edge off or put up."

Chong thanked everyone for the support for his on going battle. "Please wish me luck while I kick cancer's behind. Thank you for all of your love and support," he tweeted.
