Marvel and Sony have finally found the perfect Peter Parker.
Variety has just reported that the studios have settled on Tom Holland to play the teenaged Spider-man in the reboot of the franchise and other Marvel movies.
But who is Tom Holland? The name seemed to come out of nowhere and beat out fan favorites like Asa Butterfield and Charlie Plummer for the coveted role.
Tom Holland is a young English actor who rose to fame when he starred in the Billy Elliot Musical in London's Victoria Palace Theater. He is light on his feet, as shown in the videos he posted on Instagram.

The young actor played Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watt's eldest son Lucas in 'The Impossible,' a role that earned him the Empire Award for Best Newcomer as well as the National Board of Review's Breakthrough Actor Award.
Holland might only have a small appearance in 'Captain America: Civil War,' which may serve as Peter Parker's reintroduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will then star in the Spider-man standalone films, the first of which will be helmed by 'Cop Car' director Jon Watts.
Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman released a statement about the director and the young actor.
"I've worked with a number of up-and-coming directors who have gone on to be superstars and believe that Jon is just such an outstanding talent," Rothman said of Watts.
"For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom's screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start," the chairman said of Tom Holland.

Jon Watts has previously worked on episodes for the parody news show 'The Onion New Report' as well as the supernatural horror film 'Clown.'
Before he dons the Spider-man suit, Holland will appear in the film adaptation of 'In the Heart of the Sea,' which also stars 'Thor' actor Chris Hemsworth.
The first 'Spider-man' movie is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
