Janet Jackson To Receive Inaugural Ultimate Icon Award Gets Dance Tribute From Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe

It was 2009 when Janet Jackson last appeared at the BET Awards when she paid tribute to her late iconic brother Michael Jackson. After six decades, she will be stepping in again to be honored at BET Awards with dance tributes from famous music artist.  

Janet Jackson will be receiving the inaugural ULTIMATE ICON, a Music Dance Visual award at the 15th annual "BET Awards" 2015 on June 28, 2015. This was announced by the BET'S President, Stephen G. Hill on Tuesday.

Her grand come back will amass a group of famous music artist as Tinashe, Jason Derulo and Ciara are slated to perform a tribute to the iconic performer. This will also include her latest release 'No Sleeep.' This is her first single after seven years of rest.

"This is Janet Jackson, people!  We are excited beyond belief to present her with our inaugural ULTIMATE ICON: Music Dance Visual Award and we are thrilled that she chose the BET Awards as the first step on her new road," said Stephen Hill.  "An inspiration to many other artists, "Ms. Jackson" ('cause I'm nasty) blends music, dance and visuals in unique and groundbreaking ways and we look forward to celebrating her storied history...as well as giving The BET Awards audience a peek into her Unbreakable future."

The BET Awards is scheduled to air live on June 28 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj will perform at the BET Awards.

Smokey Robinson will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and Tom Joyner the Humanitarian Award this year's prestigious event. 

For the record, Janet Jackson is the first African-American female artist to have hit singles in each of the last four decades.
