Chris Farley Movie: ‘SNL’ Cast Remember Motivational Speaker In New Trailer For Chris Farley Documentary [VIDEO]

The 90s saw one of the golden ages of the long-running skit show "Saturday Night Live," with the rise of major stars such as Mike Myers, Phil Hartman and Adam Sandler, but there was one cast member that was gone far too soon, and the new Chris Farley movie shows an extra side of the beloved funny man.

The new Chris Farley movie, a documentary called "I Am Chris Farley," features some of the people who knew him best during his short life, nearly 20 years after his untimely death at 33 back in 1997.

According to Slash Film, the new Chris Farley movie documentary features the talents of some of his "SNL" co-stars at the time, including Sandler and Myers, besides comedians like "Full House" star Bob Saget and even "Better Call Saul" actor Bob Odenkirk, who was a screenwriter for the show in the 90s.

Rolling Stone Magazine reports that the upcoming Chris Farley movie will deal with the comedian's short career, from his rise as one of the luminaries of 90s "Saturday Night Live" and his stint in films (with movies such as the "SNL" based "Wayne's World") to his rapid decline and ultimate demise.

In all, the Chris Farley movie documentary will deal with what was happening to the actor behind closed doors, when he was struggling with a heavy drug addiction as well as weight problems that endangered his health; he was in rehab almost 20 times in the last years of his life.

Earlier this year, during the 40th anniversary of "SNL" back in August, comedienne Melissa McCarthy honored Farley's most famous role in the show, Matt Foley the motivational speaker, during a segment that also included "Birdman" actors Emma Stone and Edward Norton.

According to Buzzfeed, the Chris Farley movie documentary will open in theaters on July 31, with an August 11 DVD premiere scheduled - and you can watch the devastating trailer for the film below.
