Big Sean: Was Ariana Grande His 'Best Mistake'? [PHOTOS]

Ariana Grande and Big Sean called it quits two months ago, and now the rapper is opening up about his split from the 22-year-old singer.

The two dated for eight months before calling it quits back in April. Although their split did not end in a bad note, the media made it more controversial than it really was.

"They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends," their reps told Us Weekly. "We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time."

Big Sean is looking back fondly on his relationships with Ariana and Naya Rivera. He only had positive things to say about his past romances in an interview at the BET Awards on June 28.

“I don’t plan relationships, they just happen. That’s all it is. I’m just… I’m just living it. It’s no God, it’s no script," he told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. "You know, we’re just out here doing what we doin’ and feelin’ it out. It’s no mistakes in life, though. Only lessons.”

The 27-year-old rapper was previously engaged to Rivera before the couple split in 2014. Sean and Grande started dating in late 2014, and made their relationship public in the early months of 2015.

As for Ariana, she doesn’t want to be linked to any men. In a recent interview, the “One Last Time” singer said she doesn’t want to be known as “Big Sean’s ex” or “Niall Horan’s new possible girlfriend.” She wants to be known as Ariana Grande.

Earlier in June, the 'Break Free' singer infamously penned an essay about how she feels about always being defined by whether or not she has a man in her life.

In the empowering letter, she even referenced her relationship with Sean. “I am tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present, or future PROPERTY/POSESSION. I… do not. belong. to anyone. but myself. and neither do you.”
