Johnny Depp's Wife Charged With Smuggling Dogs In Australia

Johnny Depp's wife Amber Heard is facing multiple counts of charges after being found guilty of smuggling dog's to Australia.

On Thursday, the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions confirm that Heard was charged with two counts of illegally importing two dog in Australia and one count of falsification of documents.

Now Heard is facing 10 years in prison and a fine of 102,000 Australian dollars or $75,000 for the importation charges and one year in prison with a fine of AU$10,200 for the falsification of documents.

It was in May when Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce accused the couple of dog smuggling, when Depp arrived in Australia along with his dogs for the filming of his new series 'Pirates of the Caribbean.'

Bringing pets into Australia involves going through a strict process, for they have a strict quarantine policy to prevent the spread of diseases.

Joyce said at the time, "If we start letting movie stars -- even though they've been the sexiest man alive twice -- to come into our nation (with pets), then why don't we just break the laws for everybody?" "It's time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States."

The couple was given 72 hours to send their dogs back to U.S or it would be euthanized, Depp and Heard managed to fly out the dogs from Australia before the deadline.

As for Heard, Joyce said during the interview with Sky News, Johnny's wife will be treated just like anybody else, she won't be receiving any special treatment.

Heard will be appearing in Queensland court on Sept. 7 for trial.

As for Depp, the Department of Agriculture nor the prosecutor's office refuses to give comments why the actor wasn't charged.

Even Depp's representative didn't comment about the actor's exception from the charges.
