Guardians Of The Galaxy Will Have An Animated Seires

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is coming to Disney XD in September and IGN has the exclusive debut of the first promo for the new animated series. While it's just 15 seconds, this is the first footage released from the new series focusing on Marvel's cosmic team - who obviously are much more well known thanks to last year's hit feature film.

Guardians of the Galaxy's voice cast includes Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Trevor Devall (Johnny Test) as Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) as Gamora, David Sobolov (Transformers: Prime) as Drax the Destroyer, Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show) as Groot and James Arnold Taylor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as Yondu and Cosmo. The show officially debuts with two back-to-back episodes on Saturday, September 26th at 9:30pm ET/PT on Disney XD, though the first episode will be airing as an early sneak preview on Saturday, September 5th at 9:00pm ET/PT.

In the synopsis, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy follows the newly-formed team who finds a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It's up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe. Meanwhile, Marvel has released posters for three of its Disney XD animated series, including Guardians Of The Galaxy, Ultimate Spider-Man Vs. Sinister Six, and Avengers: Ultron Revolution. Missing from the line-up is Hulk And The Agents Of S.M.A.S.H., which was announced not to have been renewed at Comic-Con International: San Diego.
