Janet Jackson Shuts Down World Tour Preparations to be with Dad in Hospital

It's been four years since her last world tour.  Janet Jackson is on the thick of her world-tour preparations for her 'The Unbreakable' slated to kick off in Canada, end of August this year. But her father, the patriarch of the Jackson family, Joe has been hospitalized in Brazil following a stroke. He was in the country to celebrate his 87th birthday, reports ET Online.

His heart stopped three times, and had to be operated on last July 27 to fit in a pacemaker. Janet, the youngest child in a family of 10, has halted preparations to stay with her father until he is more stable. The elder Jackson seems to be doing better, having posted a thank you message in his website.

Janet is busy these days. Aside from her 'The Unbreakable' world tour, she is expected to launch her new album, which will be under her own label, Rhythm Nation Records, to be distributed by BMG Rights Management. She has already launched a brand new single, 'No Sleeep', featuring J. Cole. She has also announced a new business venture, luxury jewelry labeled 'Janet Jackson Unbreakable Diamonds collection, in collaboration with Paul Raps New York.

At age 7, Janet was already cast in the same entertainment spotlight of her Jackson 5 brothers. Her self-titled debut album was launched in 1982.  Since she was only 16, it was overseen by her father. After her second album, she is quoted to have said, "I just wanted to get out of the house, get out from under my father, which was one of the most difficult things that I had to do."

She made her own name in the music industry with her third album, 'Control' in 1986. It contained the hit songs, 'What Have You Done for Me Lately', 'Nasty', 'When I Think of You', 'Control', and 'Let's Wait Awhile'.
