State Fair Of Texas 2015: Yes, They Can Deep-Fry Even MORE Things, As Shown By Food Choice Awards

It's that time of the year when the Texas State Fair 2015 shows the world there's really no ending in how many things you can deep-fry, after incredibly creative items such as deep-fried Coca-Cola or Oreos.

For more than a century, the annual food fair in the Lone Star State has showed the world some of the best cooking Texas has to offer in the State Fair of Texas 2015, and the newer tradition of spicing things up with very rare and fried things continues, as the responsible parties for the event have already revealed the finalists for their Big Tex Choice Awards.

According to NBCDFTW, the State Fair of Texas 2015 foodie nominees were announced last Tuesday, and there are currently eight finalists for the Big Tex Choice Awards, to be celebrated on August 30 at the historic Fair Park in Dallas.

Star-Telegram reports that the three finalists for the Big Tex awards are just what you'd expect from the State Fair of Texas 2015, namely: chicken fried lobster with champagne gravy, cowboy corn crunch, Fernie's Holy Moly Carrot Cake Roly, fried beer-battered buffalo, Lone Star pork handle, pretzel-crusted pollo queso, deep-fried alligator's egg nest and smoky bacon margarita.

CBS Local reports that some of these State Fair of Texas 2015 contenders see the first-time an item is on the menu for the event, including the meat of lobster, alligator and buffalo, none of which had actually been among the options in earlier years.

While the fair won't begin until September 25, which foods will be served is already a major event one and a half month ahead; last year, the prize for the Most Creative food went to Funnel Cake Ale that was basically a beer that tasted like Funnel Cake.

The State Fair of Texas 2015 judges include YouTube personality Dan Rodo, Dallas Mavericks player Devin Harris and former Dallas Cowboy Drew Pearson.
