Tesco Drinks: Shopper Eloquently Complains About Discount In Tesco Facebook, Ends Up BBFs With Customer Service Guy

An Englishman from Yorkshire was devastated to find that when going to pay for Tesco drinks one summer day, the discount he thought he deserved didn't apply - so his natural reaction was to write an incredibly eloquent 700-word complaint that obviously ended up going viral.

In a sweet exchange between a shopper and a company's customer service, 25 year-old Yorkshire man Jonny Spencer tried to complain at length about how he'd apparently been "scammed" for £0.58 on Tesco drinks, but what he found was Jamie, an employee in customer service who was more than up for his tongue-in-cheek wordplay.

According to The Telegraph, the Tesco drinks situation started when Spencer took to Tesco one day and saw there were two products, Volvic water and Mars Milkshake, currently on sale for £2 ($3.13) when purchasing two of them, so when he went to the cashier, he was horrified to find that he'd been charged the wholesale price of £2.58 ($4.04), and of course, he just wouldn't have it.

After leaving the store at Scissett, West Yorkshire, with his two Tesco drinks, Spencer went on to write a very angry letter to post it on the retailer's Facebook.

As The Daily Mail reports, the entire account of the Tesco drinks incident was written in comic fashion, as Spencer asked heads to roll over this fatal mistake, going for more than 700 words to explain his heartbreak over losing the £0.58, also adding that they dared to "scam a Yorkshire man," then being shown the details of the offer in "minuscule writing," as he asked whether this had been done by gnomes.

Of course, the surprise came, according to The Huffington Post, when it was time to receive a reply, he found Jamie in customer service equally up to the task of tongue-in-cheek writing.

"I'm sorry that our promotions have left you enraged, upset and, most of all, without the satisfying combination of Volvic water and Mars milkshake," wrote Jamie as part of his 300-word reply. "As I understand it, both products are currently on a two for £2 offer, so you can buy two Mars milkshakes for £2 or two Volvic waters for £2."

Although Tesco ultimately deleted the comments, Jamie and Spencer ended up becoming pals over this Tesco drinks situation, nicknaming each other Goose and Maverick inspired by "Top Gun," besides promising each other Christmas cards and going viral - plus, the "scammed" customer got a free blender for his troubles!
