Michael Fassbender To Play Chef Marco Pierre White in New Film?

It looks like Michael Fassbender may be trading Magneto's helmet and cape for some Chef's whites in the near future.

Entertainment.ie reports that the Academy Award nominee is the frontrunner for the role of legendary chef Marco Pierre White in the upcoming film, based on the chef's autobiography 'The Devil in the Kitchen.'

Back in November 2014, The Daily Mail reported that White had sold the rights to his life story to director Ridley Scott, whose lofty resume includes films like Gladiator, Aliens, and Blade Runner. Back then, White told the paper:

'I've had lots of film offers in the past, but Ridley's the only person I trust to tell my story, They made an offer last year and now the deal is finalised and I'll be working closely on the project.'

In a recent interview conducted last week on The Seven O'Clock Show, White gave an update on the film's progress:

"Ridley Scott has agreed with him [Fassbender] that he has first option once the script is finished... The script starts on the first of September and will be finished by the end of the year."

White holds the distinction of being the youngest British chef to earn three Michelin stars, the highest rating a restaurant can receive. He's even more famous for the fact that he chose to give back those stars and walk away from the Kitchen at the height of his fame and prestige.

Known for his fiery temper and take-no-prisoners attitude, his life and career seems like perfect fodder for a major film. The synopsis of Devil in the Kitchen reads:

'The Devil in the Kitchen is legendary chef Marco Pierre White's memoir of growing up working-class in Leeds and going on to become a king in the culinary world--the original celebrity chef. The first British chef (and the youngest chef anywhere) to win three Michelin stars--and also the only one to ever give them all back--is known equally for his astonishing talent and for being a chain-smoking, pot-throwing enfant terrible of the kitchen.'
