Coca-Cola GB Helping Decrease Obesity in UK

The Merriam Webster's dictionary defines the term obesity as having an excessive amount of body fat.

According to a statistic from the NHS Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC); only 33% of British men are a normal weight.

Today, 65 percent of men and 58 percent of women are classified as overweight or obese in England.

Because of the obesity problem in the UK, Coca-Cola GB has started to produce soft drinks that contain fewer calories. The company plans to place a large emphasis upon advertising their no calorie Coke Zero.

The company began packaging their Sprite cans in 7.5 fl oz mini cans in order to allow buyers to experience the same sweet taste but with fewer calories. They also did this with their Coca-Cola flavor; now customers can enjoy a 7.5 fl oz can at just 90 calories per serving. There are three different Diet Coke flavors including: Vanilla, Cherry and Lime.

The company's soda is not the only beverage that recently experienced a decrease in calories. Coca-Cola also owns Glacéau Vitaminwater; they recently added a stevia-based sweetener resulting in 30 fewer calories per bottle since the sugar content has been reduced by 30 percent. Over the past few years they also reduced the calorie content of several other products, including: Fanta by 30 percent, Oasis by 35 percent and Lilt by 56 percent.

The leading Beverage Company is promoting an active life style along with educating consumers on which one of their beverages is essential to their needs. Some of them provide excellent hydration while others commend a great taste without a large amount of calories. The company's UK website is user friendly and informs readers on different ways to burn off some of the calories they consume from drinking a can of soda. A can of Coca-Cola has 139 calories; the website suggests playing Badminton, doing aerobics or playing basketball in order to burn calories. It also gives the amount of minutes to perform these exercises in order to burn off exact amount of calories that are in the can consumed.
