Las Vegas, a city where anything seems legit and weirdly possible, will be hosting Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival's "Extreme Bacon Bite Challenge" on November 14. This celebration has been selected as an official qualifying event for the 2016 World Food Championship (WFC) in Kissimmee, Florida. The festival's main attraction will be the massive bacon wedding and the 10 chefs competing for the most exciting and refreshing menu using bacon for the prize package worth $4,000.
As reported in Foodbeast, the bacon festival will offer 10 chefs the chance to show off their skills to come up with a new and exciting dish using the widely used meat. Most importantly, the event will also offer free BACON WEDDING. That's right. It's a bacon wedding.
The bacon festival started the bacon wedding tradition in Iowa last year. Tom and Tricia Watson exchanged vows over a bacon cake and bacon bouquet at the festival. With the participation of the United Church of Bacon, the event will hold a bacon-infused ceremony to 1,500 lucky bacon-lovers. Before you imagine a bacon-loving cult worshipping bacon, UCB has clearly made known that they are atheists.
The religion was founded by John Whiteside in 2010 in the hopes to fight discrimination against atheists according to Cosmopolitan UK. The church is a legit community of the same belief with nearly 12,000 members. They are dedicated to raise money for charitable causes. Aside from the massive bacon wedding ceremony, bacon enthusiasts can enjoy from a plethora of bacon-inspired dishes from Berkwood farms and participating chefs. The festival will also celebrate an extreme bacon fellowship with electronic dance music and an Elvis costume competition. They festival is expected to consume 15,000 pounds of bacon.
