Kim Kardashian's Tweet "Pope is Dope" Stirs Up Outrage

This is not the first time that Kim Kardashian's tweet was taken out of context, but this time things got a little more serious when an Argentinian website misconstrued her tweet about Pope Francis.

The 34-year-old reality star was branded as an enemy of Pope Francis when Primicias Ya, an Argentinean entertainment website, interpreted her inoffensive tweet, "The pope is dope." Seems like the foreign website got the wrong message and believed that the word "dope" has an actual reference to drugs.

The Guardian reports that Kardashian's message "was a riff on the #popeisdope hashtag" that has been trending all over Twitter throughout the Pope's visit to America. Other popular hashtag included #catholicswag and #rockstarpope.

"Most would probably interpret the tweet - or tuit as it's spelled in Spanish - as an endorsement, but it seems the reporter at Primicias Ya was only familiar with theother meaning of "dope"," Angela Bruno of  the Guradian writes, "Under the incredulous headline "Did Kim Kardashian attack the pope?" the writer (mis)translates the tweet as "THE POPE IS DRUGS."

In their article, the un named Argentinean writer questioned whether Kim Kardashian was being disrespectful to the Pope and gave out warning that he could have "found an enemy" in the U.S.

The reporter also involved the readers and asked them to share their understanding and interpretation of Kim's tweet, writing: "What could Kim be referring to? Without a doubt, this couldn't be positive. How do you interpret her message?"

Online responders on the post were quick to share "dope's" positive and harmful meaning with the writer, some even defensing Kardashian's tweet. One commenter even reprimanded Primicias Ya, pointing out the fact that they need to first "inform themselves before creating controversy."

Kim Kardashian has yet to respond to the outrage caused by her tweet, which has been shared over 16,000 times and favorite 20,000 times.
