Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist, Gary Rossington, is reportedly recovering in his house and under observation after he was rushed to a hospital due to heart attack last October 8.
Gary's daughter, Mary Elizabeth, confirmed the shocking news. At the Ronnie Van Zant fan page on Facebook, she revealed that her dad has been battling with heart problems for quite some time now. During the emergency, doctors had to unclog two of his stents and inserted another one. Doctors needed to perform another surgery for the fourth stent. Apparently, Rossington already underwent quintuple bypass surgery for his heart problems, way back in 2003.
Rossington's daughter is asking her dad's fans to continually include him and his family in their prayers.
The message reads, "Please keep him and us in your prayers as well as all the amazing medical staff that have saved his life several times now. We were very close to losing him this time and just pray that they will develop even better techniques soon to deal with heart disease. We love and thank you all for thoughts, prayers, love and sympathy."
Rossington is the only original member remaining in the Lynyrd Skynyrd band, Billboard reported. Since he is currently recovering and is under observation the band cancelled their scheduled two shows. Those who already bought tickets for the Terre Haute, Ind., show will be refunded and the upcoming Mt. Pleasant, Mich., concert will be rescheduled for 2016.
This is not the first time, Rossington was forced to cancel a show due to medical woes. Earlier this year he was also hospitalized after he was diagnosed with abdominal infection, which caused the cancellation of his concert tour.
Meanwhile, Rossington's fans, including his former bandmate have already started reaching out to him through social media to express their support for the guitarist.
Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle, posted a message saying, "I love you, Gary. Our band loves you. Stay strong and 'May the force be with you.'"
