Subway Announces New Sriracha Sauce Sandwich

The world's trendiest sauce is coming to Subway.

According to Nation's Restaurant News, Subway has added two sandwiches to its Fiery Footlong Collection which showcases the chain's new creamy Sriracha sauce.

The Sriracha Chicken Melt and Sriracha Steak Melt combine grilled chicken or steak with pepper Jack cheese, creamy Sriracha sauce, and a choice of vegetables and toppings. The Fiery Footlong Collection already includes a Buffalo Chicken sandwich and a Turkey Jalapeño Melt.

The product will available on any Subway sandwich for the foreseeable future, and the company has also added two Sriracha-centric sandwiches to the menu. The new additions are part of Subway's "Fiery Footlong Collection." Guests can also order creamy Sriracha sauce on any other Subway sandwich, the company said.

"The intense blend of chile peppers is a fiery jolt of heat that will surely wake up your taste buds," brand executive chef, Chris Martone, said in a statement. "We developed a product that's not shy on flavor and will add a whole new dimension to any of our fans favorite subs, including breakfast sandwiches."

According to the Datassential, Sriracha is the fastest-growing descriptor among more than 120 terms used to describe spicy food on American menus.

The Milford, Connecticut-based is one of the world's largest restaurant chain with more than 40,000 locations in 102 countries. The restaurant offers consumers nutritional options on-the-go, the brand became the first quick service restaurant in 2012 to meet the American Heart Association's Heart-Check Meal Certification Program nutritional criteria.
