Recent Studies Reveal that SUGAR is More Dangerous than FATS

Dr Robert Lustig, from the department of pediatrics in the University of California made a research in regards to sugar being deadly. As per Hello Giggles, Lustig and his team was able to gather "hard and fast data that sugar is toxic irrespective of its calories and irrespective of weight."

His study was composed of 43 children all from either Hispanic or African-American decent within the age of 8 to 18 years old. Each participant was asked to answer a questionnaire in regards to the number of calories that would consume on a daily basis.

They then asked the children to eat a special menu for nine consecutive days that matched how many calories they would usually eat. The only difference from what they're consuming is that the sugar on their diet was replaced by starch though the number of calories is still the same. Each child was asked to weigh themselves each day, if ever they would lose weight, they were asked to eat more.

During his interview with Time, Lustig stated:

"We took chicken teriyaki out, and put turkey hot dogs in. We took sweetened yogurt out, and put baked potato chips in. We took pastries out and put bagels in, so there was no change in the children's weight and no change in calories."

Though there were no changes in the children's weight, drastic results in regards to their health was seen. As per the studies their overall physical condition improved. Their blood sugar levels, the amount of insulin being produced by their bodies, their triglyceride and LDL levels, and the amount of fat in their liver all significantly improved.

In addition to his statement, Lustig then added:

"I'm not suggesting in any way, shape or form that we gave them healthy food, we gave them crappy food, sh*tty food, processed food - and they still got better. Imagine how much even better they would have gotten if we didn't substitute and took the sugar out. Then they would have gotten even better yet."
