'Quantico' Producer Being Sued For Plagiarism

Lawsuits in Hollywood are nothing unusual and ABC's new series Quantico is facing one. Deadline reported that the show was actually CNN's documentary back in 1999. Jamie Hellman, Barbara Leibovitz Hellman and business exec Paula Paizes has pressed some charges at the Los Angeles Superior Court last Thursday regarding their concern.

They stated that producer of Quantico, Mark Gordon copied the premise of the documentary, "Quantico, The Making Of An FBI Agent." The filmmakers were given some access to the academy where people are trained to be an FBI agent. It was a 16-week program and everything was intense.

When Deadline tried to get hold of the producer and his team about the said case, the producer didn't say anything about the issue. Furthermore, the documents containing the charges against the producer and his team also states that he had a business relationship with the original creators of the documentary, and that they even discussed the whole topic and plot of the show. It was said that it even came to the point where they talked about a possibility of turning it into a profitable film or movie series.

On the documents, it was said that Paizes also went to Gordon to discuss the project and Gordon's company became open about it. Paizes introduced Gordon to the said filmmakers agreeing they can do the work in research and could help them get into Quantico and the FBI.

The whole thing couldn't be made when there was also a signed document that shows Leibovitz and Hellman agreed to deal with Gordon and his production company and this was way back in 2002. There are no developments just yet about the case, as we are still waiting for Gordon and his statement.
