'Rosie Mercado' Fitness Inspiration that Changed Everybody's Outlook on Obesity

Plus size model Rosie Mercado shared her struggles of being overweight. She narrated her hardships and the pain she had to endure because of being obese. As per the Im Not Obsessed website, amidst the hardship, Rosie finally challenged herself and opted for a healthier lifestyle.

During her interview with People, Rosie shared her sentiments and what pushed her to change. From an overweight individual, she is now being looked upon as an inspiration.

"I hit rock bottom about eight years ago, and started gaining a lot of weight. My son was diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy, my marriage fell apart. Everything that could possibly happen happened."

Her quality of life wasn't that happy either as she would continually adjust to fit the norm. she would even hire a nanny just so someone could ride with her kids as she was too heavy for theme park rides.

"For me it was normal for me to have to think about fitting at a table or booth. I couldn't go to the movies. I couldn't go to Disneyland - I had to hire a nanny so my kids could have fun because I was too heavy for the rides."

One of the hardest moments for her was when she was asked to buy a second plane ticket because she couldn't fit into the plane's seat.

"They were really rude. They announced it in front of everyone that I needed to buy an additional ticket. That was an 'aha' moment for me - either I choose to continue living this lifestyle, or I make a wise decision and take responsibility for my life."

After going through a deep realization, she finally decided to change and stick to her health plan.

"It just really comes down to eating habits. I do have my cheat meal once a week, but everything other than that meal is high-protein, low-carb, and dairy-free. I eat lots of vegetables and drink lots of water."
