Martin Short Slapped Jimmy Fallon in the '90s Soap Opera 'Tensions'

On Thursday, during the American late-night talk show broadcast - The Tonight Show, the American comedian, television host, actor and producer - Jimmy Fallon, together with the Canadian-American actor, comedian and producer who is famous for his comedy work on the TV programs SCTV and Saturday Night Live - Martin Short, indulge in an enjoyable recollection about the fake '90s soap opera they've worked on together called Tensions.

Martin Short, who  starred in comedy films, such as the Three Amigos (1986) and 1987's Innerspace, had stated before introducing the "old" episodes he recently had rediscovered that, they'd co-starred as husband and wife - Maxwell and Lillian Vanderbilt for the reason that there were no women in Hollywood during that time. "I remember producers wanted to make every single moment as tense as possible," Short also said, "It was too tense, for no reason."

The '90s soap opera clips involved Martin Short as Lillian getting mad at Jimmy Fallon or Maxwell for doing the most dull, daily things. Martin Short said in the first episode, "A likely story that you're eating a sandwich," and in the second one, when Fallon blinked, and Short reacted in mock anguish "Why did you blink? I need answers, and I don't need lies."

In the third and final clip, Lillian (Martin Short) was put in the hot seat. Maxwell (Jimmy Fallon) accused her of having an affair with a man who has shown up "every day for the past six months," but Martin Short as Lillian denied the accusations vehemently, then the American comedian, actor, writer and producer Steve Martin who played the role of a mailman, was given a perfect cue to enter.

Each of the episodes ended up with Martin Short slapping and throwing water in the face of Jimmy Fallon. When Steve Martin made an appearance in the final clip, things got very casual in a cheerful and often impetuous way, and that's how the '90s soap opera Tensions earned its name.
