"Hello, Dolly!" On Broadway Will Now Be Played By A Male Actor

Hello, Dolly! was a famous movie made popular by Barbra Streisand and Carol Channing on Broadway. Based on the two actors, the lead role used to be played by a woman. But now, it is looking like there is a change of role that a Florida theater is casting a male actor for the lead role this time, according to The Inquistr.

The now lead role of Dolly is to be taken by Broadway actor Lee Roy Reams as per the Broward County Sun-Sentinel published. The show will be seen at the Wick Theater located in Boca Raton. This is not the first time the actor has worked for this storyline. In fact, he was actually the romantic partner of Dolly from a former production, where he played Horace Vandergelder. He also directed the show before, so he already knows a lot on how to work on this one.

But apart from his work on the show from his previous production, this is his first to work as "Dolly" for the show. This is also the first time that the role will be taken over by a man in the country. The Inquisitr noted that it is a production sanctioned by a theater union in America.

It would interesting to point out as well that it may be the first time that they will change the whole role thing in the US, but it has actually been done before only in England. An actor named Danny La Rue played the role of Dolly, because apparently it is a thing that they do in England where roles could be switched and can be done by both men and women.

It is not that easy to implement that change in the US. But the composer of the show is closed to Reams and that's why this whole production became possible.
