Mary J. Blige To Star On "The Wiz" and Possibly Her Own Broadway Show

R&B superstar Mary J. Blige is a long way from the many hardships she went through in life. From surviving a drug and alcohol addiction, saying goodbye to abusive relationships and losing a best friend to becoming a star in the music industry. She even dropped out of school at the early age of 17. Her journey to stardom was definitely not easy and it is something inspirational that a lot of people, especially aspiring artists could learn from.

This is why the thought of her life story being featured on Broadway became a great idea. The singer turned actress shared with Playbill her sentiments on putting her life story on the stage saying, "I definitely want to see the Mary J. Blige story - or just one of the album cycles - on Broadway."

Madame Noire noted another thing that the singer said about the topic stating, "To just have one of those albums, turns or times on Broadway would be crazy."

It would make sense that her music and her life becomes a Broadway story from the many ups and downs that she has been through. She admitted hitting rock bottom and almost losing hope. After that, she decided to turn her life around and told herself she can't live in hopelessness and just giving up and dying as if being defeated by life itself.

When she was interviewed by the publication The Guardian, she opened up how the change in her life had to happen. "I saw my life going down a drain. One of my real close girlfriends died; I thought I was next. And then Aaliyah died, and then New York just blew up completely - like POW! - I thought I was next. And I realized I didn't want to die like this, not tragic like this." Mary J. Blige is definitely a living legend whose life should be on Broadway.
