This fad is officially taking man-dom by storm. Thanks to online company Groupon, it is attachable, detachable and is aptly called Clip In Man Bun.
Men have taken to the pulled-back hairstyle like fish to water. So much so that over time several varieties of this look have cropped up such as the full man bun (full hair pulled up and piled on top of the head), the low man bun (full hair pulled back but tied closer to the base of the skull), top knot or sometimes called the undercut (top hair pulled into a small knot on top of the head with the sides either shaved or closely cropped) and the pineapple (a very small spruce of hair tied in a knot on top of the head).
Despite controversial warnings that link man buns to traction alopecia and hair loss, long-tressed celebrities as Chris Hemsworth, Kit Harington of Game of Thrones, One Direction's Harry Styles and David Beckham continue to contribute in man buns' popularisaty.
Groupon's clip-on bun however is designed especially for men who neither have the time nor the follicles to grow out their hair. The company touts Clip In Man Bun as an accessory "for the man who wears many hats, but no bun". It is made of artificial hair and is three inches in diameter and 1 inch in height.
Here's how to use a Clip In Man Bun:
Step 1: Smooth all the hair upward toward the top of the head.
Step 2: Bind the Clip in Man Bun to the natural hair using the elastic pull cord attached it. As Groupon puts it, "in the way the lay public attached itself to Arcade Fire".
Step 3: Secure the man bun with hair pins. If hair pins feel a bit iffy, Groupon suggests using antique paper clips in their stead.
The buns come in natural-looking blonde, black and brown colours.
