Lucky Player in Massachusetts Wins $1M For The Second Time

It is said that the chances of winning lottery in the United States is 1 in 175 million. But some people just seem to have all the luck in the world like the lottery player in Massachusetts who won $1 million, twice.

Tech Times reports that Constance Carpenito is one very luck woman who was able to hit the jackpot twice. She won a million dollars with a ticket she brought from the same Stop and Shop retail store in her hometown Stoneham where she also brought her ticket that won one million dollars in 1996.

According to Massachusetts Lottery, Carpenito who is a mother to three and a grandmother to five, is planning for a special Christmas this year with her family. "She plans on using her winnings to make Christmas an especially good one for her family."

Aside from being very lucky winning two $1 million dollars, Massachusetts Lottery added that Carpenito also won an additional $20,000 in the same grocery store. This makes her win three times in the same Stop and Stop.

She is reported to be hooked in playing the $10 million Diamond Millionaire instant game, betting at least $20 for it every week.

There are two methods in claiming your lottery winnings. The winners of state lotteries may collect their winning by cash payout wherein the winner is awarded with the prize money with federal and income taxes already deducted.

Or the winner may opt to invest the winning in different government securities. Every year the winner is given a certain amount of money for 26 years. The winner receives about $380,000 a year for every million dollar winnings, excluding tax. This method is called annuity jackpot.

In Carpenito's case, she opted for the lump sum payout which 90 percent of all winners prefer over the years.

According to Christian Teja, Massachusettes Lottery spokesperson, Carpenito's winnings seemed too good to be true. "There's no reason to believe that this is anything other than a coincidence." He said that the lottery tickets are randomly sent to more than 7,000 sellers all over the state and nobody knows where the winning tickets are. Massachusetts lottery has high standards to preserve security and integrity.

He added that Carpenito was able to hit one in 69,000 chances to win her recent jackpot. In her previous winning, she was able to overcome 3,789,000 odds.
