Pepsi Releases Android Smartphone For The First Time

Pepsi has just announced its first ever smartphone in China. The Pepsi P1 Android phone comes with some notable features and will be sold in the country at a price of $110.

The PepsiCo which is known for its popular Pepsi Cola soft drinks is now trying to extend their area of business as they unveiled their first smartphone named as the Pepsi P1. The news was announced just last month which made some surprised customers.

In a statement last October, the American multinational food company stated their interest in manufacturing and developing their first ever smartphone.

"Pepsi has always moved at the speed of culture, and today technology is a key cultural pillar at the heart of consumer interaction," stated by the soft drink manufacturer.

Even though the said smartphone is sold at a lower price, P1's design and specifications are not compromised as it includes some features that a typical mid-range phone has.

The new device has a 5.5-inch display with 1080p full HD resolution. It is equipped with a 1.7 GHz MediaTek processor accompanied by 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal memory. P1 is also powered with a massive 3,000 mAh battery capacity for a long lasting smartphone experience. It has a 13-migapixel rear camera partnered with a 5-megapixel front shooter for decent photos and selfies.

For additional features, the new smartphone includes a fingerprint sensor, a 4G connection, an additional microSD slot, dual sim capability, and is designed in a metal unibody built. The phone is run by an Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and will come into 3 different colors of blue, gold and silver.

It was reported that PepsiCo is actually crowdfunding its latest smartphone and that they have only 10 more days to raise their target sale which is at around $470,000.

The Pepsi P1 is sold only in China through JD finance - a Chinese version of the Kickstarter.
