Dove Chocolate Recall: Undeclared Peanuts, Wheat and Egg Ingredients

Mars Chocolate North America announces a voluntary recall on Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes. The announcement involves an allergy alert on unlabeled and undeclared peanutes in the 24 ounce bag.

The Dove Chocolate Product is a seasonal item sold at one major retailer only across the United States.

To describe the bag, it's packaged in a purple 24 ounce plastic bag branded "Dove Chocolate" and labeled with "Assortment Snowflakes" on the face of the packet.

It has been estimated that over 6,000 cases of this product could possibly contain Milky Way, Snickers and Twix assortments that evidently contains peanuts, eggs, and/or wheat that are part of the Big Allergy 8

The recent recall is necessary because the labelling outside the packet did not list these allergic ingredients. The recall spurred from a consumer that noticed a Snickers assortment in his Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflake packet. The consumer did not consume the chocolate that may contain peanuts, eggs, wheat or other assorted allergens.

Allergies against peanuts, eggs, sesame, wheat and other allergens are life-threatening for most people. The risk is serious if consumers ingest these products without proper labelling.

Food labelling has quite become an issue in food safety and health officials are prompting all food manufacturing companies to label the 8 major food allergens, including sesame, on the outer packet of all food products.

The Dove chocolate has a distribution route across several states but only sent to one retailer but supplied to its several retail chain shops. The retailer received shipments from Dove on 19th of September until 1st of December of this year.

The shipment was sent to several states including but not limited to Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, California, Oklahoma, New Jersey, New York and Texas.

Thankfully, no allergic reactions to the Dove Chocolate Assorted Snowflake product have been reported to date, as announced online.
