Taco Cleanse VS Pizza Diet: How Do They Match Up?

Ladies and gentlemen, step right up!

It's the first month of a new year, which means fad diets are all the hype. And as evidenced by the past years, the crazier the diet, the better.

On one corner, you have the Taco Cleanse. Dubbed as the biggest diet craze of 2016 (so far), it is a radical program that encourages you to eat nothing but tacos all day every day. Yes, you are only eating tacos. And no, you can't eat every meal at Taco Bell. The diet was created by four self-proclaimed Taco Scientists in Austin, Texas, and counts Jennifer Aniston as one of its fans.

On the other corner, you have the Pizza Diet, a newer quasi- healthy eating regimen that's equally tantalizing and initially reported by the New York Post. Pasquale Cozzolino, originally from Naples, Italy but currently a chef in New York City, reportedly lost nearly 100 pounds thanks to this diet.

So how do these new fads match up?

THE REGIMEN

Taco Cleanse - Nothing but tacos. Hungry in the morning? Get ready to prepare your breakfast taco. Craving for something sweet? Look up the recipe for the Choco Taco. If you're not ready to 100% commit to the diet right off the bat, you can ease in with a taco a day for a start. Corn tortillas are low-carb, low-calorie, gluten-free, and relatively healthy with foods like guacamole and refried beans stuffed into them.

Pizza Diet - Eat one 12-inch Neapolitan-style margherita pizza for lunch every day. This particular pizza originated from Naples, Italy and is made of simple ingredients: a basic dough, raw tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and olive oil.

THE DRINKS

Taco Cleanse - The Taco Cleanse doesn't really dictate what you consume in liquid form, and if you feel there is a need to consume margarita with your taco, then by all means, do so.

Pizza Diet - Feel free to knock back a glass of red wine with your pizza, as this one doesn't have strict guidelines with regard to beverages either.

WHAT'S THE CATCH?

Taco Cleanse - These may not be the type of tacos that you are used to, as the Taco Scientists behind this diet are all vegan (hence, the cleanse is also vegan). But don't burn your Taco Cleanse book just yet. The creators also teach you how to give well-known staples like tacos al pastor, carne guisada, picadillo, and fish tacos makeovers by using plants instead of animals.

Pizza Diet - The Neapolitan pizza is very different from what you usually order from Domino's. You also have to stick to a healthy diet outside of the daily lunchtime pizza. Exercise routines are also a must if you really want to see results.
