Albertsons Issues Recall of Pasta Salads, Deli Meals Across Multiple

Albertsons Companies has issued a recall of several pasta salads and deli meals sold across multiple states after concerns over possible listeria contamination.

The move follows warnings from federal health officials about similar risks linked to pasta dishes sold at Walmart and Trader Joe's.

The Boise, Idaho-based grocer announced on Saturday that five deli products are being pulled from shelves.

The affected items include ready-to-eat pasta salads made with bowtie pasta produced by Nate's Fine Foods.

According to AP News, the pasta was distributed by Fresh Creative Foods, which supplies refrigerated goods for Albertsons.

Customers are being asked to either throw the recalled products away or return them to their store for a full refund.

"Listeria monocytogenes can survive in refrigerated temperatures and can easily spread to other foods and surfaces," Albertsons warned in its statement.

The company added that the FDA advises consumers to carefully clean any containers or surfaces that may have come into contact with recalled items.

Albertsons Recall Hits Safeway, Vons, Randalls, and More

The recall affects multiple Albertsons-owned banners, including Safeway, Vons, Randalls, Tom Thumb, United, Amigos, and Carrs-Safeway.

States impacted include California, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, and several others. Full product details, such as sell-thru dates and UPC codes, are available on Albertsons' recall page.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. Still, the action comes amid a broader concern over listeria.

Just last week, the US Department of Agriculture issued a health alert advising shoppers to avoid certain pasta meals sold at Walmart and Trader Joe's.

Those items were also made with pasta from Nate's Fine Foods, though no official recall was issued for them, Yahoo reported.

Listeria infections are particularly dangerous for pregnant people, newborns, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, headaches, confusion, and loss of balance.

Severe cases can lead to meningitis, septicemia, or pregnancy complications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), listeria infects around 1,600 Americans each year, leading to roughly 260 deaths.

Albertsons is urging customers to check their refrigerators immediately for affected pasta salads and deli meals.
