Kirk Douglas’ Former Wife And Michael Douglas’ Mother, Diana Douglas Dies At Age 92

Several reports claim that actress Diana Douglas (the mother of Michael Douglas and ex-wife of Kirk Douglas) passed away on Friday.

Douglas' husband of 15 years, Donald Webster, says that Douglas died at the Motion Picture and Television Home in Woodland Hills. Unfortunately, the comedienne's life was taken by cancer.

Also known for her maiden name, Diana Love Dill, Michael Douglas' mother has been a legendary actress who worked in theater in addition to her film and television careers.

In fact, Diana Douglas is best know for her portrayal of Peg in "Planes, Trains & Automobiles," along with her guest roles on "Days of Our Lives," "The West Wing," "ER," and "The Paper Chase."

Diana married Kirk Douglas back in 1943. The two had two sons - Michael Douglas and Joel Douglas - before their divorce in 1951. After her first marriage, the Bermuda-born actress got married to a fellow actor, Bill Darrid in 1956.

Douglas and Darrid were married until the death of the latter in 1992. It was in 2002 when Diana got hitched to Donald A. Webster.

In a 2011 interview with Bernews, the actress lovingly talked about her first husband, Kirk. "I've always enjoyed Kirk's sense of humor, even when I was angriest at him."

She continued, "He could always make me laugh, somehow, which annoyed the hell out of me. But then I think we both decided too, when the time of divorce came, that we had to maintain a certain amount of civility because of the children."

She also disclosed her good relationship with Kirk's second wife, Anne. "And also, I think that after [Kirk] got married to Anne, [she] made it very much easier, because she and I cooperated very much in terms of bed times and what they could watch on television, and that kind of thing."

Diana Douglas' last film role was a family affair. The 2003 film, "It Runs in the Family," Diana starred alongside ex-husband Kirk, son Michael, and grandson Cameron. Joel Douglas, along with brother Michael were the film's producers.

Variety claims that a memorial service for Diana Douglas will be in Los Angeles, California.
