‘Magnificent Seven’ Remake: Composer James Horner Wrote Score Before Death For Chris Pratt Matt Bomer Western

Earlier this summer, James Horner, the legendary composer behind epic movie scores like those of "Titanic" and "Braveheart," tragically passed away during an aircraft accident in California, and it was thought that Jake Gyllenhaal's new film, "Southpaw," was the last one he worked on alongside rapper Eminem - but it turns out he also worked on the "Magnificent Seven" remake score.

As actors like Matt Bomer, Denzel Washington, Vincent D'Onofrio and Chris Pratt currently film the "Magnificent Seven" remake, the film's director, Antoine Fuqua from "Training Day," has recently revealed that, without his knowledge, Horner had written the entirety of the film's score before his death.

"I just found out a few days ago," the director of the "Magnificent Seven" remake told NPR, "[Horner's] team flew out here, to Baton Rouge, and they brought me all the music for 'The Magnificent Seven'. He already wrote it for me based on the script. He did it all off the script because he wanted to surprise me. I thought it was a gift or something. And they all came out here and said, 'Antoine, James wrote the music for 'Magnificent Seven' already and it's just glorious.'"

According to Billboard, the "Magnificent Seven" remake's director had nothing but kind words to say about Horner after his untimely passing last month, saying the composer, with whom he had recently worked with for "Southpaw," was "a legend, an artist and a great friend," also adding the two-time Oscar winner was "magical to work with."

As Coming Soon reports, the "Magnificent Seven" remake is based on the 1960 John Sturges film of the same name, itself an American adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's classic "Seven Samurai" from 1954; the first American version starred a few Hollywood legends like Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Eli Wallach.

The "Magnificent Seven" remake will be getting a January 13, 2017 release, with a star-studded cast including Maggie Gyllenhaal's husband Peter Sarsgaard as the main villain.
